TOPIC: SJÖGREN SYNDROME
🔹 Definition:
Chronic systemic autoimmune disease affecting salivary and lacrimal glands, leading to:
Xerostomia (dry mouth)
Xerophthalmia (dry eyes) → aka Keratoconjunctivitis sicca
🔸 Types:
Primary: Only sicca symptoms; no other autoimmune disease
Secondary: Sicca + associated autoimmune disease (commonly RA, SLE)
